The iTero® Intraoral Scanner is synonymous with high precision. Its parallel confocal imaging technology uses optical and laser scanning to achieve high precision and accuracy without powder or complicated hovering. Benefits for our patients include:

  • LESS MESS
Rather than using goopy putty and trays to create impressions, the iTero scanner is a handheld wand that doesn't trigger the gag reflex or create an inconvenient mess to create a mold.

  • LESS STRESS
Creating molds of different areas of your mouth could be quite a time-consuming and stressful process. The iTero hand-held scanner is small and non invasive, and will record the exact dimensions of your teeth and gums. The scanning process typically takes only three to five minutes, and it can be stopped and started as often as necessary. You will be able to breathe comfortably throughout the process.

  • FAST AND PRECISE
The use of digital scans leads to much better fits for treatment. The scanning technology can allow for forecasts of what your mouth will look like after your treatment. If you are getting Invisalign, the digital scans gathered from the iTero scanner are communicated directly to the process that will craft your orthodontic treatment.

One of the main complaints of dental patients is having to sit in the dentist’s chair with their mouths open uncomfortably wide. With the use of new technology such as an intra-oral camera, this discomfort will be a thing of the past. It allows the dentist to look inside the patient's mouth using a dental mirror with a camera on it. The dentist can see the images taken by the camera on a screen outside of the patient's mouth without discomfort.

Computers have made a tremendous impact on our lives within the last thirty years and have made our lives easier and more efficient in many ways. Dentistry has been affected by this digital revolution as well. Now it's possible to take a digital image of a tooth and from that image make a beautiful porcelain restoration the same day.

Traditionally, when a person needed a crown or partial crown, he or she was required to wear a temporary restoration while the lab fabricated a permanent restoration. With the advent of CAD/CAM technology, we now have the ability to provide a restoration in a single visit.

CAD/CAM stands for “computer-aided design/ computer-aided mill.” Instead of a traditional putty impression, a digital impression is taken using a digital scanner. A computer is used to digitally generate a porcelain restoration, and the digital restoration is custom milled from a block of porcelain in the office. This eliminates the need for a temporary restoration or a second appointment.

CAD/CAM technology has been clinically proven in dentistry for over 20 years, beginning with CEREC by Sirona Dental. CEREC continues to be the leader in dental CAD/CAM technology. CEREC’s advantages include increased accuracy, increased comfort and convenience for patients, and better dentistry.

Technology is providing exciting advances in dentistry that provide better care and improve the overall experience. We are excited to offer CEREC Same Day Crowns in our practice. Please call us if you have any questions about your specific dental needs.
